Cubs Pick Up Anthony Rizzo's Option
5 years agoAs expected, the Chicago Cubs picked up first baseman Anthony Rizzo's $16.5 million option for the 2020 season on Sunday, according to a league source. 2019 was Rizzo's second straight season with under 30 home runs -- he previously had four straight seasons with 30-plus round-trippers -- but he was otherwise consistent for fantasy owners with a .293/.405/.520 slash line, 94 RBI, 89 runs scored and five stolen bases in 146 games. We'd like to see him return to the 30-homer threshold again in 2020, which is entirely possible, but regardless he's a top-end fantasy first baseman in a strong offense.
