Cubs Closing In On Cole Hamels
6 years agoUpdating previous reports, the Chicago Cubs are closing in on a deal for Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels on Thursday. The deal is not yet done but is moving toward being finalized. Hamels will also still have to pass a physical. It looks like Hamels will be pitching in the National League soon. He's been struggling this year and has a 10.23 ERA over his last five starts, but a move to the National League should help him correct those numbers. After all, he has a 6.41 ERA at home compared to 2.93 ERA on the road in 2018. Tyler Chatwood is the most likely pitcher to lose his rotation spot if Hamels is added.
