Craig Kimbrel Slams Door On Cubs
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies right-handed pitcher Craig Kimbrel threw a clean ninth inning to pick up his 12th save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs. Kimbrel struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in his inning of work. He is down to a 3.82 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the season with 53 strikeouts in 33 IP. Since the start of June, he has allowed just one earned run in 13 innings pitched and has a 21:3 K:BB ratio. The Phillies seem to be taking note of this, as he has been their preferred option in the ninth. He should get the majority of the save opportunities going forward, but Jose Alvarado may snatch a few here and there. He should be owned in all leagues where saves matter.
