Craig Kimbrel Not Budging In Contract Demands
6 years agoDave Meter, the agent for free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel, was still searching for a deal in the five-year, $100 million range as of late last month. Kimbrel is still holding out for a high asking price, and the few offers he has received aren't anywhere close to what he's looking for. A closer-needy team could eventually acquiesce to Kimbrel and his agent's demands, but there's no end in sight. The 30-year-old right-hander is one of the best late-inning arms in baseball and must be stashed in all leagues, but he's obviously losing value each day he sits on the open market. Kimbrel has 333 career saves and went 5-1 with a 2.74 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a healthy 13.9 K/9 in 63 outings for the World Champion Red Sox in 2018.
