3 years agoThe Dallas Cowboys will reportedly "begin exploring" free agent quarterback Cam Newton. Newton was just released by the New England Patriots on Tuesday morning, while the Cowboys released both Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci, leaving them with just Cooper Rush on the depth chart behind starter Dak Prescott. Given that Prescott is recovering from an ankle injury and picked up a shoulder injury in camp, the Cowboys appear to be in a dire backup quarterback situation. Newton has proven that he's not the Cam Newton he was in the past, but he's still a far better option than anyone else left on the Cowboys payroll besides Dak.
