Could Ty Gibbs Be A Quality Driver For Richmond?
8 months agoJoe Gibbs Racing driver Ty Gibbs will start 14th in this week's Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway, which will be the fifth time in his Cup career he will start 14th or higher at the site. In four previous starts at RR, Gibbs has three finishes of 16th or better and one finish with positive Place Differential. Through 22 races completed this season so far, Gibbs has nine top-10 finishes. In practice, Gibbs ranked 19th in overall lap averages while being among the Top 15 fastest in the 15, 20, 25, and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Based on his equipment and practice speeds, look for Gibbs to maintain a finish around his starting position, making him a quality driver based on his salary on both sites this week.

Ty Gibbs Returns To Site Of Best Career Finish
1 day agoTy Gibbs finally stopped the bleeding somewhat in last week's race at Martinsville as he had his best run and finish in an otherwise disastrous season after his crew chief Chris Gayle was replaced by Tyler Allen. Gibbs did earn the only second-place finish of his career in last year's Darlington event, but that came during a relative career hot streak while he is suffering his greatest slump now. The fact that Gayle just dominated with Denny Hamlin and gave him his first win at Martinsville in a decade suggests that Allen might be a substantially worse crew chief and Gibbs may still be in a bit of a funk personally after flipping his High Limit car three weeks ago. It wouldn't be shocking if he led the race since he did last year, but given his current negative momentum and the fact that he only qualified 11th, he likely won't.

Ty Gibbs Earns Best 2025 Finish At Martinsville Despite Failing Cool Suit
1 week agoTy Gibbs had his most competitive run of the season on Sunday at Martinsville when he both started and finished 13th despite the discomfort of a malfunctioning cool suit. Surprisingly, this was Gibbs' best result since he also finished 13th 12 races ago at Talladega, and it was one of his grittiest performances nonetheless. Gibbs entered the top 10 after the Stage 1 pit stop and ran in the top five for most of Stage 2 (where he ultimately finished fourth), but he was spun out by the similarly-named, similarly-sponsored Tyler Reddick for 11th and fell to 24th before later confronting him after the race. Nonetheless, the Toyotas in general and Joe Gibbs Racing cars in particular had great speed, and he was able to make up most of the ground that he had lost in what was clearly his best run since Tyler Allen took over as crew chief.

Can You Trust The Speed Of Ty Gibbs This Weekend?
1 week agoAfter another disappointing run at Homestead last weekend despite looking really good in practice, fantasy NASCAR players are a bit leery on how much they trust Ty Gibbs right now, and rightfully so. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has struggled mightily this season, with an average finish of 25.7 through the first six races, and only one result better than 22nd. What's even more frustrating for fantasy players is how strong Gibbs has looked in practice and/or qualifying, which is once again the story this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. The No. 54 Toyota ended up 11th-fastest in practice at Martinsville this weekend and will roll off the starting grid from 13th place when the Cook Out 400 goes green. So the question is, should you roster Gibbs in DFS this weekend? At $7,000 on DraftKings, it's a bit enticing to roll the dice with Gibbs, but considering he has never finished better than 18th at Martinsville Speedway in five career Cup Series starts, it's probably best to just stay away once again this weekend.

Should Ty Gibbs Be Rostered For Homestead DFS Lineups?
2 weeks agoTy Gibbs will start 13th for this week's Homestead-Miami Speedway Cup Series race, the Straight Talk Wireless 400. This starting position ties the best of the season so far for Gibbs after five races. In three starts at Homestead in the Cup Series, Gibbs has only one top-10 finish and obtained positive Place Differential once. Gibbs is still in the middle of one of the worst slump periods of his career, as he only has one top-20 finish in the first five races this year. In practice, Gibbs ranked sixth in overall lap averages while displaying top-10 speeds in the 15 and 30 consecutive lap average categories. Despite not offering a high upside from his starting position, Gibbs is a driver who is a complete risk to roster into lineups this week based on his recent seasonwide performance and mixed track history at Homestead. Gibbs is only playable in tournament lineups as a contrarian option, but there are still cheaper and better alternatives available in the Cup Series field compared to the No. 54 Toyota driver.
