3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has been considering a platoon situation between quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, according to reporter Albert Breer. Breer released a column on Sports Illustrated that detailed discussions between himself and Shanahan regarding the 49ers offense. In short, Shanahan certainly made it clear that rotating his top two quarterbacks based on the matchups and even throughout the course of a game could be in the cards for this year. It's hard to gauge what this could mean from a fantasy perspective at this point. A platoon situation would of course lower the potential output of both Garoppolo and Lance while it lasts. It might, however, benefit Lance over the course of the year as it would at least give him more of an opportunity to prove he's ready, enabling him to take the job outright sooner.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
