Corey Seager Scratched From Thursday's Lineup
10 months agoTexas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (undisclosed) was scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Seager was originally listed as the designated hitter, but he was replaced by Travis Jankowski in a revised lineup. Seager returned from a four-game absence on Wednesday night as he had been dealing with a hamstring injury. There is not yet word on the reason for the scratch, but more information is sure to come out soon. Hopefully it is nothing more than an extra day of rest for the 30-year-old. UPDATE: Manager Bruce Bochy said they're "being cautious" with Seager after he had a bit of tightness while getting ready on Thursday. The Rangers want him to be a full go for the series this weekend in Seattle against the division-rival Mariners, and Bochy said Seager will be back out there on Friday.

Corey Seager Leaves Early On Tuesday With Hamstring Tightness
20 hours agoTexas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) left Tuesday's game early against the division-rival Athletics with right-hamstring tightness. Before leaving, the All-Star shortstop went 1-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Josh Smith shifted from center field to shortstop, with Leody Taveras entering the game to play center field. Fantasy managers will be hoping that the Rangers pulled the 30-year-old two-time World Series MVP early as a precaution in an 8-2 ball game, but we won't know more about the severity of Seager's injury until probably Wednesday morning. At the very least, Seager probably won't be in the lineup as the series against the A's continues on Wednesday. If Seager misses extended time, we'd expect Smith to pick up regular playing time at the 6 in Texas. Seager entered Tuesday's contest hitting a strong .288 (21-for-73) with four homers, six RBI and six runs early in the season. UPDATE: Manager Bruce Bochy said the team won't know the severity of Seager's hamstring injury until he undergoes an MRI exam on Wednesday.

Corey Seager Has Another Multi-Hit Game
7 days agoTexas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager had a solid day at the dish on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. While all three of Seager's hits were singles, it is still nice to see him getting on base. The veteran lefty now has five multi-hit performances in his last seven games, raising his AVG to .288 after a slow start to the season. He's still looking for consistent counting stat production, with only five runs scored, three homers, and five RBI to his name so far. That said, he's appearing to turn it around and has a long track record of being one of the best four-category contributors in fantasy. His managers should stay patient and hold on, as better days should come.

Corey Seager Goes Deep Twice In Win Over Cubs
2 weeks agoTexas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was seeing the ball well on Wednesday at Wrigley Field in the 6-2 win over the hosting Chicago Cubs, going 2-for-5 with two solo home runs, two runs scored and two strikeouts. Seager homered off starter Shota Imanaga and reliever Nate Pearson for his second and third home runs of the season. It's a good sign for the 30-year-old two-time World Series MVP, as he entered the day hitting just .194 (7-for-36) with three walks and 11 strikeouts in the first 10 games of 2025. Fantasy managers will be hoping that Seager will keep things going at the plate as the Rangers head into a weekend road series in Seattle against the division-rival Mariners, which starts on Friday. As long as Seager stays healthy, he should be a productive fantasy option at shortstop in all leagues after hitting 30-plus homers in each of the last three seasons.

Corey Seager Out Wednesday As He Continues To Manage Calf Issue
3 weeks agoThe Texas Rangers continue to manage shortstop Corey Seager's calf injury, and he's out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Seager has been playing through the issue, but the Rangers aren't taking any chances early in the season. Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant expects Seager to sit in day games after an evening contest. Josh Smith will get the start at the 6 on Wednesday and will hit sixth against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene. Smith has one hit in just three career at-bats versus Greene. Seager's minor calf injury could be contributing to his slow start at the plate this year, as he's gone just 3-for-17 with a run scored, two walks and four strikeouts in his first five games of 2025. Ezequiel Duran is starting at the hot corner for the Rangers and will hit ninth. After Thursday's off day, Seager should be back for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.
