Corey Dickerson's Situation With Rays Likely Resolved By Thursday
7 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays should know by Thursday whether anyone is willing to trade for outfielder Corey Dickerson. If no one does, he'll go on waivers after being designated for assignment. The odds are that he will clear waivers and be released over the weekend. The Rays would then be left with paying just $1 million of his $5.95 million salary, and Dickerson will be free to sign anywhere. Dickerson started off 2017 hot and led the American League in batting average on June 26 at .330 before trailing off. He would finish with a .282 average with 27 homers, 62 RBI and a .815 OPS. He likely won't be out of work long after serving as the starting designated hitter in last year's All-Star game.
