Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo Will Be On Taxi Squad
5 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Corbin Carroll and shortstop prospect Geraldo Perdomo will be on the team's taxi squad when rosters are announced, according to a source. Carroll hasn't played above short-season A-ball but is one of the team's best young players and is rated as Arizona's No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Perdomo comes in as the team's No. 4 prospect, so the D-backs clearly want to keep developing their top youngsters with the minor league seasons all but officially canceled because of COVID-19. The odds won't be great for either Carroll or Perdomo to see any big league action this year, let alone provide fantasy value.

Geraldo Perdomo Hits Grand Slam On Thursday
3 days agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in a 9-7 loss to the New York Yankees on Thursday. Perdomo launched a homer with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to cut the Yankees' lead to 9-7, but that was the last of the scoring for the Diamondbacks in the loss. The veteran infielder is off to a nice start in 2025, picking up eight hits and 11 RBI across 25 at-bats for his team. Perdomo will look to stay hot as Arizona opens up a weekend series against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

Geraldo Perdomo, Diamondbacks Agree To Four-Year Extension
2 months agoShortstop Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a four-year, $45 million contract extension on Monday that includes a club option, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. Perdomo's new deal will start in 2026 and buys out up to three years for the 25-year-old. Perdomo gets rewarded after hitting a career-best .273 (92-for-337) with three home runs, 37 RBI, nine stolen bases and 61 runs scored in 98 games for the Snakes in 2024 after he was a first-time All-Star in 2023. He missed over two months after suffering a knee injury in early April but put up solid numbers when healthy. However, fantasy managers may want to expect some regression for Perdomo unless he improves his plate discipline, as his average was propped up by a favorable .317 BABIP in 2024. The extension for Perdomo is bad news for shortstop prospect Jordan Lawlar, who continues to be set back by injuries.

Joc Pederson, Geraldo Perdomo Out Versus Southpaw
9 months agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder/designated hitter Joc Pederson and shortstop Geraldo Perdomo are not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the hosting Kansas City Royals with left-hander Cole Ragans toeing the rubber. Randal Grichuk is serving as the DH for Arizona and will hit fifth, while Kevin Newman is at the 6 and batting eighth versus Ragans. Pederson has only 21 plate appearances against lefties in 2024 and is hitting .177 (3-for-17) against them with one of his 13 homers on the year, so it's no surprise he's on the bench to kick off the week. Grichuk and Newman have both faced Ragans just once in their career and have come away hitless. Grichuk hasn't displayed much power in 155 at-bats in Arizona in 2024, but he's hitting an impressive .284, including a .300/.363/.420 slash line against southpaws with a homer and 17 RBI in 100 at-bats.

Geraldo Perdomo To Return From Injured List Tuesday
10 months agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) will return from the 10-day injured list to rejoin the team on Tuesday for the start of their series against the Los Angeles Angels. Perdomo has been out since early April after requiring surgery to fix the meniscus in his right knee, but the 24-year-old is now ready to rejoin the Snakes and will eventually settle back in as the club's everyday shortstop, which is bad news for both veteran Kevin Newman and rookie Blaze Alexander, who have been filling in at the 6 since Perdomo went down. Perdomo isn't a high-end fantasy option at the shortstop position by any means, but he did make the All-Star squad in 2023 for the first time in his career, when the switch-hitting Dominican slashed .246/.353/.359 with six homers, 47 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 144 regular-season games.
