Colts Not Concerned About Andrew Luck's Arm Strength
6 years agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich and the rest of the coaching staff are not concerned with quarterback Andrew Luck's arm strength or velocity through three weeks. Luck is currently averaging a career-low 5.3 yards per completion. The Colts also brought in backup Jacoby Brissett for a hail-mary attempt late in the game in Week 3 against the Eagles. "What I've seen is he makes all the throws," Reich said. "There's been plenty of throws down the field, in my mind ... (What) I've seen is a guy who is extremely accurate. I have no concerns about velocity." Luck is tied for 26th in the NFL in passing attempts that go at least 20 yards with just eight, according to ESPN Stats and Information. He finished 25-for-40 for only 164 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss, but he's completed 68.5 percent of his passes this year, which would be a career high. Luck may be healthy, but he's turned into a dink-and-dunk passer through three weeks under Reich. Perhaps the Colts are just playing it safe, but if this keeps up, Luck has a limited ceiling as more of a QB2.
