Colton Cowser Hitting Seventh In MLB Debut
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles rookie outfielder Colton Cowser is starting in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup in his major-league debut on Wednesday against the New York Yankees and right-hander Randy Vasquez. Cowser will get a little run for Baltimore prior to the All-Star break with Austin Hays (hip) still nursing a hip injury. The 23-year-old is the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, earned his first big-league promotion by hitting an impressive .330/.459/.537 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 257 trips to the plate at Triple-A Norfolk. It's unclear how long the young left-handed hitter will stick around in Baltimore, but Cowser has a great all-around offensive profile with budding power and upside. He'll need to improve against offspeed pitches in order to have sustained success at the next level.
