Cody Poteet Won't Throw For 1-2 Weeks
5 months agoNew York Yankees right-hander Cody Poteet (triceps) is dealing with a right-triceps strain and will be shut down from throwing for one to two weeks. It's been a small sample size for Poteet in the big leagues this year, but when he's been on the mound, he's been very reliable for the Yankees. Poteet currently has a nice 2.14 ERA (4.29 FIP) and 1.05 WHIP with 13 strikeouts and seven walks in 21 innings pitched in four starts. The 29-year-old should be an option for the Yankees again this year whenever they need a spot starter, but with Gerrit Cole (elbow) now back in the rotation, Poteet probably won't have a starting role to come back to when he's ready to return to pitching in pinstripes. In his first two big-league seasons with the Marlins in 2021 and 2022, Poteet had a 4.45 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 53:27 K:BB in 58 2/3 frames over 19 outings (nine starts).
