Cody Poteet Doesn't Finish The Fourth Inning On Friday
3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Cody Poteet was decent in a short start in Friday's 10-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Poteet had just come off the injured list due to a knee injury and hadn't had a chance to make any rehab starts, so he was never expected to go deep into this game no matter what a clueless Don Mattingly stated prior to the first pitch. Poteet ended up pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five. Both runs came on two solo home runs off the bat of Joc Pederson, but Poteet made pretty much everyone else in the Cubs lineup look silly. While Poteet didn't have much of a minor league career, he certainly seems to have figured something out over the past two years and looks like he could be a legitimate back end starter in a big league rotation for a long time.
