Cody Bellinger Could Return In Series Against Padres
7 months agoChicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger (ribs) will not need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment, and there's a chance he could be back in the Cubs' lineup before they go on the road go on the road on Friday to Pittsburgh to start a series, according to manager Craig Counsell. The 28-year-old is currently on the 10-day injured list due to a fracture in his right ribcage. He was able to do some hitting and defensive work on Monday and apparently made a positive impact on the coaching staff. Fantasy managers will be happy to get him back, as he's been out for almost two weeks. When he returns, rookie outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong will likely head to the bench or possibly back to the minors. Bellinger is a must-start in fantasy leagues when he's available. Before his injury, he was hitting .226 (19-for-84) with five homers and 17 RBI.
