Christopher Bell Quietly Nabs A Top-5 Finish At Homestead
1 month ago Christopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing finished fourth in Sunday's Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Starting the race from the third position, Bell had one of the better cars of the race right from the beginning, as he ran in the top 5 and even inherited the lead at one point during the first stage. The No. 20 Toyota driver would end sixth at the end of the first stage and gain stage points. In the second stage, Bell ran a clean race inside the top 5, eventually ending the stage in third and collecting more stage points. In the final stage, Bell stayed out of trouble, executed on his pit stops under green flag and yellow flag conditions, and despite fighting for the lead a few times, he settled for fourth, marking his third top-10 finish at Homestead in his Cup career. Bell holds a 29-point cushion on the playoff cut line heading into the last race of the Round of 8 at Martinsville, where he has one win and three top-10 finishes in nine starts.
