Christian Yelich's Late Scratch Was Precautionary
1 year agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. Brewers manager Craig Counsell said the decision to scratch Yelich from the lineup was precautionary. The 31-year-old has a history of back issues, and the Brewers know when to push through back stiffness or give him a few days off. He is considered day-to-day, and his next chance to return to the lineup is the series finale against the Yankees. Tyrone Taylor replaced Yelich in Saturday's game and went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional run scored. Taylor would see an uptick in playing time if Yelich were to miss any more games.
