Christian McCaffrey Could Be Rested
6 years agoWhile Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera won't officially say whether running back Christian McCaffrey will be rested in Week 17 against the Saints, he admitted "we need to be smart" and that it could be a good time "to evaluate" their younger players. McCaffrey has already become only the third player in NFL history to have 1,000 rushing yards and catch 100 passes, so that milestone has already been accomplished. He has been a fantasy MVP this year, but you may be without him in the regular season finale. This is why most leagues only go until Week 16. If he were to be rested, some combination of Cameron Artis-Payne, Travaris Cadet and Kenjon Barner would work the backfield in a meaningless game with the Saints already locking up home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
