Chris Buescher Misses Out On Playoffs After Finishing Sixth At Darlington
3 months agoDespite walking away with a sixth-place finish at Darlington Raceway on Sunday night, Chris Buescher will not be a part of the 16-driver field in this year's playoffs, as the Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing driver failed to win during the regular season and was outscored in points by Martin Truex Jr and Ty Gibbs as well. Coming into the Cook Out Southern 500 on Sunday night, Buescher was above the cutline for the playoffs, but he was fighting for his postseason life late in the race against Bubba Wallace after scoring just one Stage point in the first two Stages and running outside of the top 10 for a good chunk of the event. After an incident with Todd Gilliland, Buescher was able to use tire strategy to rally to a sixth-place finish, but Chase Briscoe winning the race ended up knocking Buescher out of the postseason when it was all said and done. After the race, Buescher posted on X, "For the most part we did what we needed to do in Darlington. It just didn't work out. We've had such a great year…"
