Chris Bassitt Shaky In Interleague Road Outing
6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed three earned runs, four hits and four walks with just two strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. He threw just 62 of his 94 pitches for strikes. His ERA jumped from 3.64 to 3.86 as a result of the shaky outing, and he has won just once in five outings in the month of June. Bassitt also went six innings back on June 2, but he has failed to hit the mark in each of his past four. Overall he is 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, but he remains useful only in AL-only leagues and some deeper mixed formats at this point. He'll take the ball next on Sunday in another road outing against the Los Angeles Angels.

Chris Bassitt Excellent On Sunday Against The Orioles
1 week agoToronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt led the Blue Jays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday to help salvage a split in their four-game series. He recorded his first win of the season, allowed eight hits, one run, and two walks, and had seven strikeouts over six innings of work. Bassitt was able to scatter those eight hits and get out of traffic quite often on the afternoon against a solid lineup. Bassitt will look to keep it rolling next weekend, when he is tentatively lined up to face the New York Mets on the road. Fantasy managers can continue to rely on Bassitt until proven otherwise, as he is a veteran pitcher who knows how to pitch in the big leagues.

Chris Bassitt Won't Pitch In Season Finale
6 months agoToronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt will no longer take the hill for the regular-season finale this Sunday at Rogers Centre versus the visiting Miami Marlins, according to manager John Schneider. The Blue Jays are now listing Sunday as a "TBA" day. Toronto hasn't named a replacement for Bassitt or given a reason for why the 35-year-old veteran won't take the ball to close out the season. Bassitt won a league-high 16 games for Toronto in his first year with the club in 2023 but wasn't nearly as successful this year, going 10-14 with a 4.16 ERA (4.08 FIP), a 1.46 WHIP and a 168:70 K:BB in 171 innings over his 31 starts. His ERA was his highest since 2016, when he pitched for the Oakland Athletics, and he also led the league with 16 hit-by-pitches. It's possible that he's dealing with a minor injury and the Blue Jays didn't want to risk anything.

Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Seven In No-Decision
10 months agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt threw eight innings of one-run ball in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Athletics but did not factor into the decision. The veteran allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out seven, but the Jays' offense did not provide enough run support to allow him to pick up the victory despite the stellar showing. Aside from a seven-run hiccup against the Dodgers back on April 26, Bassitt has been rather good this season, allowing three earned runs or less in 10 of 13 starts and two or less in seven of them. The righty now has a 3.80 ERA on the season with a 1.38 WHIP and a 70:28 K:BB in 73 1/3 IP.
