Chris Archer With No-Decision In Season Opener
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer went six innings Thursday versus Boston in the regular season opener. He allowed four runs with six strikeouts. He left trailing 4-0 but the Rays rallied to win 6-4 to spare him the loss. He pitched well outside of a rough second inning where he gave up three runs, aided by a gapper that turned into an inside-the-ballpark home run. The strikeouts continue the story that Archer is an elite strikeout pitcher who has had at least 233 each of the past three seasons. It was not an ideal beginning to the season and he will look to bounce back in his next start but will face a tough task in facing the Yankees on the road.
