6 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer (groin) is questionable for his start Friday versus Seattle. He left the game Saturday with tightness. Archer still felt it Sunday and so he will see a specialist on Monday. It could turn out to be minor but Archer is unsure and says he has not had this type of injury before. One of the players who could have taken his spot in the rotation was Anthony Banda. However, Banda is currently on the Triple-A disabled list with a forearm strain that "has the potential to be a serious injury". Banda was a key part of the deal with Arizona that sent Steven Souza out of town. He also drew praise for how his stuff looked Tuesday. His fastball was in the mid-90s while his offspeed pitches looked like they could be effective going forward. He does have some potential upside going forward, especially in long-term formats. Archer has the upside to be a strong fantasy asset, but the weakness of the Rays will impact his winning potential.--Jamie Mellor
