Chris Archer Gains Second No-Decision To Start 2018
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer went five innings, allowing four runs Tuesday versus the New York Yankees. The big blow against him was a three-run home run in the third inning. He left trailing 4-1, but the Rays tied it in the next half inning to give him his second straight no-decision to start the season. The Rays would eventually lose as Austin Pruitt was pounded for six runs (five earned) in only 2 1/3 innings. Archer is an elite strikeout pitcher who has had at least 233 K's in each of the past three seasons. The Yankees are simply a very powerful offense to face. The road does not get much easier in the next scheduled outing versus the Red Sox, who Archer struggled against in the season opener.
