Chase Elliott Starts 14th At The Ally 400 Sunday
1 year agoChase Elliott probably expected a better qualifying effort for Sunday's Ally 400. However, 14th is where he wound up. Elliott's Hendrick Motorsports Chevy did not quite have the overall speed to get into the final round of qualifying. Elliott ran faster last year, led 42 laps, and benefitted from the late race conditions as he crossed the checkered line first. This year figures to be more of a challenge for the No. 9 driver. He never has started outside the top ten in Nashville. It will be intriguing to see how his late-run speed is compared to last year (fourth).
