Chase Elliott Scores Hard-Fought Podium Finish At Kansas
7 months agoDuring Sunday's AdventHealth 400, Chase Elliott fought hard and ended with a finish of third. After starting ninth, Elliott would ride near his starting position for much of the first stage before ending 10th. In the second stage of the race, Elliott would continue to hold firm racing around the back half of the Top 10, but he would just fall short of scoring stage points. The third and final stage would at first start out similarly to the first two stages, with Elliott steadily remaining around or just outside of the Top 10. However, his team made adjustments to make his car better, and eventually, during a late race caution when Kyle Busch spun, Elliott took two tires and restarted in the Top 5. During the final restart, Elliott would shoot around other cars and have a chance to go for the win. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet would fall just short, making contact with Martin Truex Jr. coming to the line and edging him out for his fifth top-5 of the year and his first at Kansas in the Next-Gen car. Elliott continues to have a strong season as he is now third in the Cup Series points standings heading to Darlington, where he has three top-10 finishes in his last four Cup appearances there.
