Chase Elliott Obtains A Great Finish Of Third At Iowa
6 months agoIn Sunday's Iowa Corn 350, Chase Elliott was one of the top performers in the race and finished third. Starting from the ninth position, Elliott remained inside the Top 10 for the whole duration of the first stage, which he ended in ninth. In the second stage, Elliott progressed to the front, making it as high as first before pitting for tires and fuel. Despite the field being shuffled after a lap 182 caution, Elliott ended the second stage in third, scoring several stage points. In the final stage, the No. 9 Chevrolet driver would at first fall behind due to pit strategy but avoided contact with other drivers and placed third at the end. This was Elliott's second consecutive top-5 finish after placing fourth at Sonoma last week and he now becomes the regular season points leader. As the Cup Series advances to New Hampshire, Elliott could be a potential contender for the win as he led in four of the last six Cup events.
