1 month agoChase Elliott had a so-so run at Talladega by his standards, but he did what he needed to do to maintain his position on the playoff bubble, where he leads Joey Logano by 13 points for the final transfer spot. Despite qualifying 11th, Elliott had a disappointing Stage 1 when he was consistently outrun by his teammates Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman and failed to score stage points, but recovered to finish second in Stage 2 and generally remained in the top ten until he was caught up in the Big One, even though he rarely fought for the lead. However, it turned out that all the other playoff drivers either on or below the bubble were also caught up in the crash, so he essentially lost nothing. Considering Elliott's stellar road course record, it's hard to imagine him not advancing to the Round of 8.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
