A dominating night by Kyle Larson at Darlington Raceway went astray due to some late-race chaos, and it was Chase Briscoe who was in the cat bird's seat to take the Cook Out Southern 500 race win and earn a spot in the playoffs in the regular season cutoff race. Briscoe ran inside the top five for much of the race and capitalized on a late restart with a very impressive three-wide pass for the lead with 26 laps to go. Briscoe led for a total of 29 laps and got his first win of the season, holding off a charging Kyle Busch in the closing laps.
