3 months agoWashington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced during his victory over the Washington Capitals. The Capitals got out to three-goal lead by the end of the second frame. Carolina's lone tally came in the back-half of the third period off a Seth Jarvis wrist shot. Over his past four outings, Lindgren has allowed just one goal or fewer in three of them. During this span, he has carried a stellar 1.50 GAA and a .942% SV with a 3-1 record. Prior to this impressive stretch, he posted a 4.04 GAA in his previous three outings. Overall, the 31-year-old sits with a solid 10-6 record and a .903% SV and a 2.58 GAA. Fantasy managers should continue to expect him and Logan Thompson to share the crease at an almost 50/50 split.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoWashington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren (upper body) will dress as the backup on Saturday against Pittsburgh. He has missed three games due to an upper-body injury but is available for selection again. However, the team has decided to keep riding Logan Thompson, who has turned red-hot during Lindgren's absence. He has posted back-to-back shutouts while allowing only one goal during a three-game winning streak. Both goalies have played well for the Capitals this season, which hasn't been the case in Pittsburgh, making Washington a clear favorite for Saturday's contest.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 months agoAccording to the team, Washington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren (upper body) exited Friday's game early. The netminder stopped all nine shots he faced and left in the second frame. He was replaced by Logan Thompson, who allowed three goals on 21 shots in their defeat. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring Lindgren's status before their game against the Nashville Predators on Saturday evening. If Lindgren misses an extended period, then Thompson will see the vast majority of the starts in the crease. Before Friday, Lindgren had allowed at least three goals in each of his previous four starts, while Thompson allowed more than three goals just once over his previous five outings. Thompson will likely get the starting nod on Saturday evening,--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

4 months agoWashington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced en route to defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs. Lindgren's lone blemish came in the second frame when John Tavares beat him on his backhand. This was also a nice bounce-back showing for the 30-year-old, as he has allowed nine goals over his past two starts combined. This was only the second time this season that Lindgren allowed just one goal or fewer. Since the start of November, Lindgren has held a .900% SV with a modest 2.91 GAA. Throughout the season, Lindgren and Logan Thompson have shared the Washington crease. However, given that Thompson boasts a 10-1 record, fantasy managers should continue to expect him to see the slight majority of starts.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

12 months agoWashington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren turned in a crucial outing on Monday, turning aside all 16 shots he faced en route to a 2-0 shutout win over the Boston Bruins. With the victory, the Capitals held onto the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They can clinch a postseason berth with a win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Monday's start was Lindgren's fifth in a row and his 17th over the team's last 18 games. With the outing, he improved to a 2.71 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage along with an NHL-best six shutouts across 49 appearances (47 starts). The Flyers, Red Wings, and Penguins all have an opportunity to grab the final playoff spot in the east, as well.--Brenton Kemp
