5 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers are debating whether to pursue Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton if he lands on the open market, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The Panthers ultimately want to trade Newton, but they've yet to find a partner and teams will want to avoid as much risk as possible. It makes it more difficult now that conducting physicals will be extremely difficult due to the coronavirus, so the Panthers may ultimately have to outright release Newton. Chicago had been linked to him, but they just traded for Nick Foles. The big question surrounding Newton is his health after he played in 16 games the last two seasons due to foot and shoulder issues. If healthy, though, he could definitely bounce back on a Chargers team with plenty of weapons to go around. As of right now, Tyrod Taylor sits atop the QB depth chart.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
