6 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia has been placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday. The Yankees selected the contract of starter George Kontos, who will fill the roster spot left by Sabathia. The move comes as a surprise since Sabathia is coming off an absolute gem of an outing against the Texas Rangers, and no update has been given as to exactly what his injury is. Kontos started his career with the Yankees, but has since played with the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cleveland Indians before joining the Yankees again, albeit in the minors. He's a career 3.12 ERA pitcher. Kontos doesn't have much fantasy value since he's virtually a placeholder, but he might be good for a spot start in daily play depending on how he performs and how long Sabathia is out.--Mauricio Castillo
