Cavaliers Hiring Kenny Atkinson As Head Coach
5 months agoThe Cleveland Cavaliers are ending their search for a new head coach after letting J.B. Bickerstaff go near the end of May. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the newest head coach of the franchise will be Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson. The former Brooklyn Nets head coach has 11 seasons of assistant coaching experience in the NBA and was the head coach of the Nets for four years. In his time as the head coach, he had a record of 118-190 in the regular season and 1-4 in the postseason. When he took the helm in Brooklyn, the team was going through a painful rebuild, and Atkinson garnered attention for Coach of the Year in 2018-19. Now, he'll take over a team with a lot of young talent, but the roster seems like it's still in a state of flux as they await Donovan Mitchell's extension.
