Casey Mize Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
2 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday morning. Mize posted a message on Instagram, revealing the details of the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Keith Meister. In his post, he stated that he hopes to "pitch at some point next season." Mize was only able to make two starts this year before landing on the injured list. He went 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. The 25-year-old has yet to live up to the high expectations he had while coming up as the top prospect in the Tigers' organization. Over 39 MLB games, he has a 4.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 2.6 K/BB ratio.
