5 years agoWashington Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan said that quarterback Case Keenum (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol, but it's still possible that he plays in Week 9 against the Bills if he feels better on Friday. Keenum has been taking third-team repetitions at practice behind rookie Dwayne Haskins and Colt McCoy. It's more of a long shot that he'll play at this point, which would put Haskins in line to make his first career start. It would be bad timing, as he's looked really bad in limited duty so far this year, and Buffalo's defense is one of the scariest in the league. Either way, fantasy owners would have to be desperate to use Washington's starting QB this weekend, even in two-quarterback formats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoHouston Texans quarterback Case Keenum has been confirmed as the Week 16 starter with C.J. Stroud (concussion) unable to play, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson. Keenum drew the start over fellow backup Davis Mills last weekend, and while that decision seemed somewhat surprising, it paid off. The veteran led the Texans to an overtime victory, completing 23 passes for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. This week, he'll rank as a fantasy QB3 against the Cleveland Browns' strong defense.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

1 year agoHouston Texans quarterback Case Keenum is expected to start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. Starting quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) is still in the concussion protocol and is reportedly unlikely to play in Week 16. That puts Keenum in line to take on his former team at home in Houston. Keenum started in place of Stroud in Week 15 and completed 23 of his 36 passes for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in an overtime win over the Tennessee Titans. Keenum will not be a recommended fantasy option heading into the semifinal round of the fantasy playoffs.--Matt T - RotoBaller

1 year agoHouston Texans quarterback Case Keenum did just enough in the team's 19-16 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15. Keenum filled in for the injured C.J. Stroud (concussion) on Sunday and completed 23-of-36 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown with one interception. The veteran's lone touchdown came late in the fourth quarter when he connected with wide receiver Noah Brown for a three-yard score to tie up the game. It remains to be seen if Stroud will clear concussion protocols before next week's game. If he can't, Keenum could be in line for another start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.--Joey Pollizze - RotoBaller

1 year agoThe Houston Texans are expected to start veteran quarterback Case Keenum over Davis Mills in Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans with rookie C.J. Stroud (concussion) set to miss his first game this Sunday, according to sources. Keenum, 35, has more NFL experience than Mills (78 total games and 64 starts), but Keenum also hasn't started a game since 2021 with the Cleveland Browns and hasn't been active at all in 2023. He's gone 29-35 all time as a starter in the NFL, throwing for 14,884 career yards, 78 touchdowns and 48 interceptions over 10 seasons. Keenum may have more experience than Mills, but he's going to have to shake off some rust in order to get Houston's passing game going, and he could be without top wideout Nico Collins (calf). At best, Keenum will be a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues on Sunday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
