Along with center fielder Odubel Herrera, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana played a significant part in the club’s 11-0 offensive explosion against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night. The 32-year-old who has struggled mightily thus far into his tenure with the Phillies was batting fifth when he smacked a three-run home run to center in the fifth inning. The shot increased Philadelphia’s lead to 8-0, as they were well on their way to victory. Santana later drove in another run on a groundout in the eighth, driving in his club’s 11th and final run of the game. Despite the four RBI, Santana is still hitting an abysmal .171 on the season.--RDelgado
