Carlos Santana Could See Time In Outfield

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said the team is considering using first baseman Carlos Santana in the outfield this year. Santana could also serve as the primary designated hitter if Jake Bauers ends up playing first base regularly. The 32-year-old Santana has played only 10 games in the outfield in his career after spending most of his time at third base, catcher and first base. Gaining outfield eligibility would be nice, but his stock is on the decline after he hit just .229 with 24 home runs and 86 RBI in 161 games with the Phillies last year. The 32-year-old switch-hitter still has some power and is a good on-base asset, but he can be drafted as a corner infielder in the later rounds of mixed leagues.
