Carlos Martinez Throws Six Strong Innings On Wednesday
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez was excellent in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets. Martinez started and went six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out five. It was a very encouraging start for Martinez, who had been struggling throughout most of the spring. The six scoreless innings lowered his Grapefruit League ERA to 6.62. He'll have a spot in the Cardinals starting rotation once the season begins, and could be a decent depth piece in some deeper leagues.
