Carlos Martinez Hammered For 10 Runs In Less Than An Inning
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez had one of the worst starts in baseball history on Wednesday, allowing 10 runs in 2/3 of an inning. He allowed six hits and four walks and didn't record an out until opposing pitcher Walker Buehler gave himself up on a sacrifice bunt. Martinez's night was mercifully put to an end before the first inning even ended. His ERA ballooned to 5.83 on the season, and his career ERA, for a guy who has been pitching in the big leagues for nine years, went from 3.55 to 3.64 in the span of a few minutes. Things can only get better his next time out, but if you had Martinez in a fantasy lineup today: sorry for your loss.
