Carlos Gomez Arrives To Camp
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Carlos Gomez has finally arrived with the ballclub and should start appearing in games in the next few days. First, there was a visa issue that kept him away. The Rays used that time to decide what the corresponding move to make would be. He was signed after trades diminished the previous depth at the outfield position. He is expected to be a contributor with the team in the outfield rotation with Kevin Kiermaier, Mallex Smith and Denard Span. Gomez was a superstar back in 2013 and 2014. In those two seasons, he combined for 47 home runs and 74 steals with a .284 average in both seasons. He has since struggled and has not played more than 118 games in any of the past three seasons while playing for three teams. He should be owned in most leagues that start five outfielders or have 12 or more teams with more than four bench spots.
