Carlos Carrasco Makes Rehab Appearance Monday
5 years agoCleveland Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (illness) made a relief outing for Double-A Akron on Monday in his first appearance since he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in June. The 32-year-old had a strikeout and is scheduled to pitch for Akron again on Thursday. The right-hander wants to help the Tribe this year, but it remains to be seen if he'll be cleared to pitch in the big leagues again this season. Before being diagnosed, Carrasco was 4-6 with a 4.98 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79 strikeouts in 65 innings over 12 starts. He could be a big boost to Cleveland's rotation if he comes back, but there's a lot of risk given his illness. Stash him in deeper leagues but don't expect much if he comes back.
