3 years agoThe Washington Nationals selected the contract of right-hander Carl Edwards Jr. on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, they optioned right-hander Andres Machado to Triple-A Rochester and moved right-hander Mason Thompson to the 60-day injured list. Edwards had a 0.63 ERA and 0.50 WHIP while walking four and striking out 17 in 14 1/3 innings for Rochester to earn the call-up. The 30-year-old veteran has bounced around the league and has played for five different teams, including the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays last season. Edwards won't be fantasy relevant at all, but he'll bring some experience to Washington's bullpen.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
