Carl Edwards Jr. Closes Out Saturday's Game
2 years agoThe Washington Nationals had a 7-2 lead at the beginning of the ninth inning on Saturday against the Colorado Rockies, but once it got to 7-5 with still no out, they called on Carl Edwards Jr. to finish the game. The right-hander allowed three hits and a run while striking out a batter over his inning of work, picking up his first save of the season. Kyle Finnegan, who has one save but blew Tuesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays, pitched the eighth inning Saturday and owns a 14.54 ERA thus far. The Nats might have lost some trust in him, which means Edwards Jr., who's running a 2.25 ERA with three strikeouts over four innings, might receive more save opportunities in the future.
