Cardinals Sign Lefty Wade LeBlanc
3 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals signed veteran left-hander Wade LeBlanc on Thursday, and he will join the team for their game on Thursday night against the Atlanta Braves. LeBlanc's one-year deal will pay him $800,000 while in the major leagues and $150,000 while in the minors. Manager Mike Shildt said that LeBlanc will pitch out of the bullpen. The 36-year-old journeyman has pitched for eight different MLB teams in his 13-year career, going 34-41 with a 4.73 ERA over 121 career starts and 12-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 125 relief outings. In six outings (one start) with the Baltimore Orioles earlier this season, LeBlanc allowed seven earned runs while striking out six and walking one in 6 2/3 innings of work. He also pitched in the minors for the Texas Rangers. He'll likely just be eating relief innings for the Red Birds, giving him no real fantasy appeal.
