5 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals are "open" to trading closer Carlos Martinez. The Cardinals would also be willing to consider trading young outfielders such as Lane Thomas and Tyler O'Neill, who has been hot of late. C-Mart has adapted well to a relief role with the Cardinals and has a nice 2.18 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, five saves and 22 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings in 18 relief appearances. He's become the primary ninth-inning guy with Jordan Hicks now out for the season, making him a must-own in all fantasy leagues. A trade out of St. Louis would likely mean he'd no longer be closing games, but he could also have the opportunity to re-enter a starting rotation. If the Cardinals were to trade Martinez, Andrew Miller could become their next closer to finish out the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
