Cardinals Easing Andrew Miller Into Spring Action
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said he doesn't think relief pitcher Andrew Miller will pitch in the first couple of Grapefruit League games this weekend. Given the knee issues the left-hander dealt with last year, the Cardinals are also being careful with him in fielding drills in camp. So far Miller's knee and arm have looked good, though, and he should see a prominent late-inning role with his new team. Miller wasn't his dominant self because of injuries in 2018, but he's been one of the most dominant left-handed relievers in recent seasons when healthy. He should see some save chances, but the Cardinals don't have a set closing plan just yet. Miller is worth snagging in the late rounds for a potential bounce-back campaign.
