Can Josh Berry Turn His Season Around At Richmond Raceway?
8 months agoJosh Berry will start 30th in Sunday's Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. Berry, who is in his first full season in the Cup Series, is off to a rocky start in 2024. Despite being with a storied team (Stewart-Haas Racing) and in a car that was always competitive when Kevin Harvick was behind the wheel, the results have not been there for the 33-year-old rookie. In the first six races of the season, he has cracked the top 20 just once and is averaging 20.1 DraftKings points, which ranks him 31st in the series. While these results are concerning, there is a case to be made for Berry this weekend. Specifically, he dominated the slate when he filled in for Chase Elliott in this race last season. Starting from the 30th position -- the same position he will start in Sunday night's race -- Berry made his way through the field and finished second, earning 90.95 DraftKings points in the process. It should also be noted that while he has struggled this season, his best finish came at the only other short track NASCAR has raced at this season -- Bristol (12th place). Between last season's performance and the fact that his one decent race this year came on a short track, you should feel confident rostering Berry in DFS this weekend.
