Can Jonathan Lucroy Rebound In 2019?
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy heads into the final week of spring training hitting .324 in 37 spring at-bats. This is a pivotal season for the 32-year-old, who is two years removed from being an All-Star in 2016. Lucroy's declining value forced him to sign a one-year deal with the Angels but will head into the season as the unquestioned starter behind the plate. The dip in Lucroy's production can be traced to his inability to hit inside pitches with authority and a slugging percentage that has nose-dived from .500 in 2016 to only .325 last year. His fantasy value will carry plenty of skepticism to start the season but Lucroy could provide value as a professional hitter at a position (catcher) that is thin across the league if he gets off to a strong start.
