Cameron Maybin Nearing Return
5 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin (calf), who suffered a left calf strain on June 21, is on the cusp of beginning a rehab assignment. He ran outside for the first time on Saturday and has been working on a treadmill over the last week. Manager Aaron Boone said that Maybin will ramp up baseball activities this week. Maybin was a pleasant surprise for a depleted Yankees outfield before his injury, and he had multi-hit games in half of the last 12 contests he played in. The veteran was hitting .314 with a .391 on-base percentage, 14 RBI, five home runs and six stolen bases in his 42 games. The 32-year-old has been good this year, but his playing time will be in question when he's healthy enough to return.
