Cam Newton's Shoulder Feels Great
6 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday and didn't throw during the 20-minute portion open to the media, which was the same as last week. Head coach Ron Rivera said that's "the new normal" for Newton. Even if Newton isn't throwing, he's getting mental repetitions and constantly communicating with coaches and teammates on tweaking routes and protections. “He’s at that point where he probably doesn’t need to throw 105 balls a day," Rivera said. Despite being limited to start the week, Newton said his shoulder "feels great." Newton came down with a sore shoulder after the Week 7 win against the Eagles, and the team has been managing his work since. He's completing a career-high 66.4 percent of his passes through the first seven games of the season and has thrown for 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. We think Newton will be just fine, and he's the No. 4 scoring QB in fantasy so far. Against Tampa's awful defense in Week 9, Newton is an elite fantasy play.
