Cam Newton Has No Plans To Retire
4 years agoNew England Patriots impending free-agent quarterback Cam Newton said he has no plans to retire. "I can't go out like that. I hear all of that talk. My pride won't allow me to do it. There aren't 32 guys better than me," Newton said. He began his first and potentially last year in New England averaging 238 passing yards per game with two touchdowns, two interceptions and four rushing touchdowns in the first three games. But then he tested positive for COVID-19 and averaged just 161.9 passing yards with six TDs and eight interceptions in his final 12 starts. The 31-year-old broke the franchise record for QB rushing yards (592) and can still be a dual-threat signal-caller, but it remains to be seen if a team will give him a chance at a starting gig in 2021.
